About this study day
This study day is aimed at professionals who want to improve their understanding of evidence based practise as applied to working with suicidal and self-harming clients.
The study day will cover the influence of the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide on National Service Framework (NSF) Standard 7 (suicide prevention). This will include the
- clinical recommendations which were included in the NHS plan, e.g. assertive outreach teams, and improving access to services for families and patients in crisis
- specific recommendations on patient safety, such as: a) the removal of ligature points on in-patient wards, adopted in the Chief Medical Officer’s report, ‘An Organization with a Memory’ (OWAM) and b) early follow-up of post-discharge psychiatric patients
- Safety checklist for mental health services incorporated into the National Suicide Prevention Strategy (NSPS) (ì12 points to a Safer Serviceî)
- clinical standards on mental health safety disseminated by the NSF Standard 7 toolkit
