About this study day

This study day is aimed at professionals who want to improve their perceptorship skills and the effectiveness of support programmes for newly qualified staff and newly appointed staff to an area of practice for the first time.

The study day will cover

  • Principles of Effective Preceptorship
  • Preceptorship: a planned process
  • Current Research and the Role of the Preceptor
  • Setting Aims and Objectives and the Learning Contract
  • Implementation: strategies and processes
  • Evaluating Outcomes

The study day aims to highlight issues from participants own experience and work through examples of effective practice. The day will consist of presentation, discussion and case scenario working, including some exercises on contract negotiation.
