About this study day

This study day is open to any nurse/AHP working in an environment that cares for patients following a stroke. Attendees may work in the ED, on a HASU, stroke/medical ward or in a rehabilitation setting. The aim of the day is for attendees to improve their knowledge and skills around the causes and types of stroke, treatment, deficits following stroke and to increase their awareness of the support available in the community on discharge.

The sessions will include:

• Risk factors and causes of stroke
• What is a stroke?
• Treatments for stroke including thrombolysis
• Neurological assessment
• Common complications and how you can help the patient
• An opportunity to share best practice and case studies

The sessions will consist of presentation, discussion and case studies
