The programme provides a part-time route (One Year) to achievement of the award for students who have successfully completed a Foundation Degree or a Diploma in Higher Education/ Diploma in Social Work. However, those students taking the PQ Social Work award may take up to 4 years. It is designed to help students to develop their theoretical knowledge further and develop their expertise to enable enhanced practice and career progression. The modules are designed to offer an integrated degree programme, however most modules may be accessed on a stand alone basis for professional development purposes.

Modules

Students choosing the modular option who intend to complete this Degree programme can only use a maximum of 60 credits as Accredited Prior Certificated Learning (APCL). For those students wishing to use credits from other universities, only 45 credits can be used as Accredited Prior Learning (APL). Students will choose from a portfolio of modules or short courses available. In order to achieve the award learning outcomes the student will normally need to undertake:

  • One practice-specific module (30credits)
  • One optional module (30 credits)
  • One management/leadership module (15 or 30 credits)
  • One researching practice module (30 credits)
