Is this course suitable for me?
This course is designed for Higher Education lecturers who wish to develop their teaching expertise and/or to develop pedagogic research as an avenue for scholarship and publication activity. The course is accredited by the Higher Education Academy.
Overview
Certificate
This course centres upon the practical craft knowledge of teaching. Participants look at theories and principles of planning and enabling learning and engage in a programme of peer- and tutor-observations of teaching to improve practice. The Certificate award enables participants to teach in all UK Higher Education settings.
Course duration: 30 weeks
Teaching format: Seminars
Entry requirements
To gain a place on the course applicants must have a minimum of an honours degree and a regular teaching load of at least six hours per week at a UK Higher Education Institution. Applicants will also be required to demonstrate that they hold HE responsibilities at Level 2 of the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Standards Framework: ‘a substantive role in learning and teaching to enhance the student experience’.
