It is designed and taught by experts with experience in commissioning and procuring services in a wide range of specialities at strategic and operational levels.

This course will be of interest to commissioners working in health and social care settings and practitioners wishing to redesign pathways and transform services including:
• Adult and Children’s services Joint Commissioners who are assisting Councils and Clinical Commissioning Groups to develop more integrated services
• People working in Clinical Commissioning Groups, specialist commissioning roles and the National Commissioning Board including GPs and other professionals and commissioning staff
• Practitioners who are looking to move forward the personalisation and Big Society agendas in their area
• Staff from provider organisations who have responsibilities for transforming the way that services are delivered including the “care closer to home” agenda.

Overview

Three forces, demography, increased public expectations and most urgently tightening financial circumstances are making it particularly critical for organisations to improve the effectiveness of their commissioning. In response to this Bucks New University have developed a part-time, work based Applied Commissioning course. The course consists of two 30 credit modules:

• Contemporary Issues in Commissioning

• Reflective Portfolio Module

The course can be delivered to a group of individual students from a variety of organisations or to teams from one or more organisations. Bucks New University are very interested in working with whole systems (Clinical Commissioning Groups, Councils and Provider organisations) to help you to tackle complex whole system projects such as transforming pathways for older people and have recently run the course for a Children’s Trust with Commissioners and Strategic Managers from Social Care and Health Service backgrounds.
